A friend of mine recently had to have her dog put to sleep. As anyone who has had to do this knows, it is a gut-wrenching experience, and yet it is the greatest act of love. Her vet did something very unusual and very wonderful just before the dog received the injection. The vet gave the dog a big bowl of chocolate ice cream with chocolate syrup! The dog was focused on the bowl of ice cream and didn't even care about the procedure that was being started. We all know that dogs are not allowed to have chocolate during their lives because it is toxic to them. But they love the taste of it. So why not let them have it just before they pass on? It is such an extra loving thing to do.
