Finding Rosie: Looking for a Christmas Miracle in Portland OR
We are looking for Rosie she was surrendered to the Oregon Humane Society on Columbia
Blvd. the end of April 2015. We got Rosie in January of 2014 as an 8 week old puppy for our
then 8 year old son Ben. Ben attended puppy training classes with her and practiced
everyday. He brushed her,fed and cleaned up after her. They were inseparable. We found out
some time later that Rosie is partially blind. To that Ben said"She just needs me more"
someone told him he was Rosie's "Guardian Angel" and he took that very seriously. When we
got Rosie it was a very difficult time for Ben. His dog we had since before he was born just
passed away, his father was battling cancer and then his grandmother died. 6 months later his
father lost his job. All very traumatic events leaving Ben feeling very uncertain. Rosie was a
constant source of comfort and happiness. Then in March 2015 another female dog we had
started attacking Rosie. We tried for 2 months to sort things out,but the attacks continued and
were getting more severe and dangerous for everyone. Unfortunately none of the rescue
agencies would take our other female dog. So it was either euthanize the other dog or re-
home Rosie. We had to act quickly to save Rosie. So,we regretfully surrendered her to the
Oregon Humane Society. It was the worst decision I've made as a parent. Since that time Ben
has been diagnosed with anxiety. He has a constant air of sadness about him that wasn't
there before re-homing Rosie. He used to want to pet every dog he seen. Being without Rosie
has changed something in him. Giving her up has broken his heart and his worry over not
knowing what happened to her or where she is is causing him tremendous stress and anxiety.
We know her new family loves her and wouldn't want to give her up,but if Ben could just see
her and know she's happy and safe it would go a long way to healing his heart and mind.
Please help Ben. Rosie is a tan and white Australian shepherd mix. She is partially blind. If
you have Rosie or know where she is please contact us. Any help would be appreciated
beyond words. Please forward this to everyone you know. Please make copies and hang up at
your veterinarians office, local dog park, pet store, coffee shop and anywhere else you can think
of. Losing Rosie has devastated Ben. He used to emit this bright light. That light left with
Rosie. There is nothing Ben wants more for Christmas than to have Rosie back in his life in
some way even if it's just to know she's safe and loved. Please help heal my child's heart this
holiday season. [email protected] - http://m.imgur.com/a/ho7RK
